Terms of Service

One is beta software that types into your terminals on your instruction. These terms set out what you can expect from us and what we need from you.

Effective 26 August 2026 · Beta terms, version 0.1

1. Agreement

These terms are a contract between you and One (“One”, “we”, “us”) covering the One macOS application, the One phone remote, the services at api.getone.one, and the getone.one website (together, the “Service”). By installing the app, creating an account, or using the Service you agree to them. If you use One on behalf of a company, you confirm that you can bind that company to these terms.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data One handles and is part of these terms.

2. Beta status

One is pre-release software. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice; access may be limited or gated; and we may reset accounts, sessions, or data as part of development. Please do not rely on One for anything you cannot afford to lose.

3. Your account

You need a Google account to sign in, and you must be at least 16 years old. Keep your Mac and your account secure: everything done through One while you are signed in is treated as done by you. Tell us at support@getone.one if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

4. Licence

Subject to these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the One app on Macs you own or control, and to use the Service, for the duration of the beta. We keep all rights not expressly granted. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service, reverse-engineer it except where the law allows, remove any notices, or use it to build a competing product.

5. What One does, and your responsibility for it

One listens to you, looks at your screen, reads what your coding agents are doing, and then types instructions into your terminals and other applications on your behalf. Those agents can edit files, run commands, install software, and make network requests.

  • You are responsible for what your agents do. One relays your instructions; it does not review, sandbox, or approve the actions the agents take in response.
  • Speech recognition and routing are probabilistic. One may misunderstand you or pick the wrong agent. Check what was typed before assuming a task is done, and use version control.
  • You are responsible for the permissions you grant (Microphone, Screen Recording, Accessibility, Automation) and for what is visible on your screen and in your terminals while One is active. Do not use One where recording or screen capture is prohibited.
  • You must have the right to use any code, data, and accounts that One is exposed to on your Mac.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • break the law, infringe anyone’s rights, or violate the terms of a third-party service you connect;
  • access systems or data you are not authorised to access, or direct agents to do so;
  • send spam, malware, or abusive content, or interfere with the Service or other users;
  • circumvent access limits, share access codes, or resell access to the Service;
  • probe, scan, or overload our infrastructure, or use automated tools to extract data from it.

7. Third-party services and agents

One works with software and services we do not control, including coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi), the herdr terminal manager, and AI providers such as OpenAI, OpenRouter, and Groq. If you connect a ChatGPT or OpenAI account, use of Codex on that account is governed by OpenAI’s terms and usage policies, and any usage limits or charges are between you and OpenAI. Each third-party service is subject to its own terms and privacy policy; we are not responsible for their availability, behaviour, or output.

8. Content and feedback

You own what you say to One and the code your agents produce. You grant us only the rights needed to run the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

9. Fees

The beta is currently free. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you in advance and you will be able to choose whether to continue. Model usage that runs on your own connected accounts (for example a ChatGPT plan) is billed by that provider, not by us.

10. No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. We do not warrant that One will understand you correctly, route to the right agent, or that the agents will do what you intended.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, CODE, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR TO ACTIONS TAKEN BY AGENTS ON YOUR INSTRUCTION, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

12. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, the actions of agents under your control, or your breach of these terms.

13. Termination

You can stop using One at any time and delete your account by emailing support@getone.one. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we wind down the beta. Sections 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, and 16 survive termination. See the Support page for how to uninstall and what the app leaves behind.

14. Changes to the Service or these terms

We may change or discontinue any part of the Service. We may also update these terms; the current version is always at getone.one/terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION], excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the courts of [JURISDICTION], and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing a claim, please contact us at support@getone.one so we can try to sort it out first.

16. General

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. We may assign these terms as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets; you may not assign them without our consent. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.
